The way Rachel Blackmore clasps a plait of the mane of her superstar mount Honeysuckle after crossing the finish line was the inspiration for this triptych.
I was compelled to capture this emotional moment after watching a superb performance when this perfect partnership secured victory in the 2021 Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham on 16th March 2021.
Despite the eyes of the world fixed on this jockey after another amazing win, her immediate first reaction was to show her deep gratitude, respect and appreciation for the mare Honeysuckle and her efforts at her giving it her all to secure their victory.
This action gives us only a glimpse into an unspoken trust and understanding between jockey and horse. This for me the viewer was a truly magical moment where time stood still and despite the eyes of the world upon them this moment was theirs alone.
